Locations

The Cascades Cycling Club attempts to schedule rides to benefit people with different cycling needs. Below is a list of some of the common starting points for rides:

Cascades Park (CP) - This is the park for which our club is named. Some rides begin here.

Rides that begin at this location usually start from the parking lot just south of the Falls (west side of the street). The parking lot is at the northwest corner of the intersection of S. Brown St. and Denton St. Alternately, the parking lot is just north of the skating/paddle boat pond. For those who feel comfortable using food as a reference, the parking lot is just east of the ice cream stand.

East Jackson Middle School (EJMS) - 4340 Walz Rd. This location is northeast of Jackson.

Ella Sharp Park Ella Sharp Park (EP) - Mostly mountain bike rides here. (See our Trails page.) When groups meet in the park, it is usually at the Museum parking lot. The link to Yahoo! points to the park entrance. After you enter the park from the main entrance, on Fourth St., make a right at the first stop sign. Immediately after turning right, you will see the Museum parking lots. Assuming you're not the first person there, you will probably see a bunch of people with their bikes ready to ride.

Trail Clean-ups usually begin here too. Instead of a bunch of people with mountain bikes, you'll probably see a bunch of people with lawn and landscape tools.

Grass Lake Train Depot (GLTD) - This location is downtown Grass Lake, Michigan, a community just east of Jackson. From the intersection of Lake St. and Michigan Ave. (traffic light), go east about half a block on the north side of the street. The depot is between the light and the Mobil station. To get to Grass Lake, take E. Mighigan Ave. from Jackson (not Ann Arbor Rd.) east until you arrive in Grass Lake.

Jackson County Health Department (HE) - Rides meet at the Health Department at 1715 Lansing Ave. in Jackson. Then rides go 25-40 miles to the Rives Junction Area.

Jackson Crossing (JX) - This location is...

On Two Wheels (O2W) - This is one of the bike shops in Jackson. For cyclists who ride much, you become familiar with where the bike shops are, buying parts for maintenance, upgrade or just to drool over new bikes. Rides that begin here normally meet in the parking lot.

Munith Township Hall -

Pedal and Tour (P&T) - Another bike shop in Jackson. Although some people remember when they were on Francis St, P&T is in downtown Jackson, located at 225 N. Jackson St. They are south of the intersection of Louis Glick Hwy and N. Jackson St. on the east side of the street. P&T is easily accessible from major roads in Jackson.

We appreciate them allowing us to hold organizational meetings on the premises of their business.

Pleasant Lake County Park (PLCP) - 1000 Styles Rd., Pleasant Lake.

R.W. Kidder Middle School - This is the start location for the world famous Minard Mills Bike Ride and Wienie Roast. This is a great ride that you shouldn't miss. For more infor see the Minard Mills page.

Western High School - The high school is west of Jackson, technically in Parma, Michigan, at 1400 S. Dearing Rd.

Westwinds Community Church - The church is located on the northwest corner of the intersection of McCain and Robinson Roads in Jackson. The church address is 1000 Robinson Rd.
