Your race season is based on your off-season training. Many of you have heard this season after
season, but after you hear it and decide to act on it, you have a tendency to slowly fall back into
your old rut and before you know it, March is here and you're fifteen pounds overweight again.
Do something different this winter, whether it be swimming, running, spinning or skiing. Work at it
pretty hard and you'll be amazed what a difference it will make in the spring. Don't forget to include
recovery. This is a good time to recharge your body and mind and get stronger.
So do some training almost every day, but this time of year it doesn't matter what you do. Just do
something. You can even ride your bike, weather-permitting. Just do it on alternating days and try to
have fun. Also, don't forget to start a plan. Training is so much easier if you have a plan. This way,
when December comes around you won't miss a day.
P.S. The most often overlooked portion of the body during the winter months is your core strength.
Don't forget your crunches.
