Well, it's after Labor Day and the turnout at rides is getting smaller and smaller each year. I'm amazed how people just hang up the bikes and forget them until next Spring. I personally can't imagine missing the late Fall rides, cold extremities, the frozen water bottles and seeing my steamy breath. But what do I know anyway.
I also like to look back at my season and recall all the good and the bad memories. Many times I look back at my log and figure out some of my training mistakes and look at the temperature and distance. For instance, in late Spring of this year, out of ten days that I rode my bike, I got rained on seven of those days. In another instance, I remember the pain I felt after a mis-glued tire sent me to the pavement one Saturday afternoon.
All these memories are all locked up in my log so try to keep one yourself, starting today. You'll be amazed how interesting they'll be five years down the road.
You'll also be amazed at the many people that come and go over the years and occasionally one or two come back for some unknown reason or another. It's great to have all these fantastic friends. I can't imagine life without them or my bicycle.
See ya on the road.
